How do I apply?
Simple. Write a 5-page business plan for your internet-startup idea, and submit it to us.
We repeat: €10,000 for 5 pages. That’s two grand a page. Get writing.
How should I structure my plan?
We’re looking for an executive summary of a business plan for your idea. We value clarity and conciseness over verbiage, so your executive summary should be a maximum of 5 pages, and it needs to address all of the following questions:
- Problem: What’s the problem you’re trying to solve? How significant is this problem, and for who?
- Solution: How are you going to solve this problem? What’s so clever about this solution?
- Business model: How will you make money from your idea? How much will you make in the first couple of years?
- Technology: How will you build this? And what’s clever / novel / useful about the way you’re going to implement it?
- Sales and Marketing: How are you going to market and sell your idea?
- Competition: Who are you competing with? And how will you do things differently or better?
- Team: Who are the rockstars in your band? What makes you think you’ve got what it takes to make it?
You can structure the document any way you like, and you can submit it to us in whatever format works best for you, but you do need to address all of the questions raised above.
Got more to say than fits in 5 pages?
We’re sure you have. But clarity and conciseness is what we’re looking for. If you can’t capture the essence of your business and get us excited about it in 5 pages, you probably need to go back to the drawing board.
That said, feel free to add additional detail in an appendix, or to supplement your submission with supporting documents or artefacts (e.g. a demo, if you have one).
But we will be judging you on your 5-page executive summary – so be sure to put the effort in there.
What then?
Once you’ve applied, here’s what will happen next.
